Nvidia-GLX-Legacy

For: Mepis Linux 6 DVD / CD

by: je.saist

Nvidia-GLX, Nvidia's proprietary driver, offers high performance 3D acceleration for *nix users.

As of recent driver versions, Nvidia has removed for support for Graphics accelerators Geforce 4 and previous versions.  If you have a graphics card that is based on Riva TNT, TNT2, Geforce, Geforce 2 , Geforce 3, Geforce 4, Nforce, Nforce 2, Nforce 3, and Nforce 4, this is the guide for you.

If you have a Graphics card that is labeled with Geforce FX, Geforce 6, Geforce 7, Geforce 8, Geforce 6100, and Geforce 6150, then your graphics are supported under Nvidia-GLX.

After installing the Nvidia-Glx-Legacy Driver, Mepis may come back up to a black screen.
If this happens, follow this guide: DPKG-Reconfigure Xserver-Xorg
