For : Cedaga / Mepis Linux

By : je.saist

Here we go with our second Windows game installation. Now we'll look at Morrowind.

System Components:

Abit NF7-S 2.0  /  AthlonXp 2500+ @ 3200+  /  1gig DDR 400mhz 2,2,2,5 / XFX Geforce 6600 GT
Asus P5RD2-VM / Pentium4 630 @ 3.45ghz  /  1gig DDR2 PC2 667 5, 5, 5, 15 /  Sapphire x1800 XT

Part 1 : Install  |  Part 2 : Configure

We'll need to configure both Cedega and Morrowind itself, so lets get started.

27: Left Click on Properties at the top of Cedega.

28: Here we have our basic settings.

29: Left Click on Edit Settings.

30: These are the default settings when installing Morrowind.

31: First thing I am going to do is change the Winver to win2k

After some testing, I found that like City of Heroes, win2k appears to result in a smoother experience.

32: Next, I am going to turn the TransGaming HUD on so I can check frame rate and memory.

33: Next I am going to Left Click on the tab labeled Graphics.

34: The Pixel Shader defaults as version 1.3.

I haven't found any difference in image quality or performance between 1.3 and 1.4.

35: Okay, everything hopefully should be fine.

Left Click on OK.

36: Left Click on OK.

37: Left Click on Play.

38: Here we go, our entrance screen.

Don't be alarmed if you have texture corruption while mousing over the entrance screen.

39: Left Click on Options.

40: Here we see that our default resolution is set at 640 x 480.

We can also set window and full screen modes, as well as pixel shader usage.

Word of advice, run this game in full screen. errors result when windowing is tried.

41: I am going to change the resolution to 800 x 600

42: Left Click on OK.

43: Left Click on Play

Nvidia 6600 GT

Radeon x1800 XT
