For : Cedega / Mepis Linux

One day Monolith will make a bad game. Aliens Verus Predator 2 was not that game. With no word on an Aliens Versus Predator 3 game, we'll just have to do with this masterpiece.

Part 1  |  Part 2  |  Part 3

To Install and Play this game the original Install media is required

55: While the game is installed, we aren't quite ready to go.

With Aliens vs. Predator 2 selected, Left Click on Properties.

56: Left Click on Edit Settings

57. The game defaults with the winver win98.

58: Lets change our winver to win2k in the drop down box.

59: Now, I'm doing this part on an ATi system, and I activated the Transgaming HUD.

60: Left Click on the tab labeled Graphics.

61: Actually, no, I didn't click on Video RAM. I Left Clicked on Pixel Shaders.

Set the Pixel Shaders to 2.0.

62: Same with the Vertex Shaders.

63: Left Click on OK to exit.

64: Left Click on OK to finish.

From this point, we'll treat the game as though we are starting up to play it.
The game disc will need to be in the system and mounted in order to play.

65: Left Click on Mount

66: Insert Aliens Versus Predator 2 - Disc 1 into the optical drive.

Then Left Click on Mount.

67: When Unmount shows, we can close the Mount CD's Dialog.

68: Alright, we should be ready to Left Click on Play.

69: this... isn't a good sign is it.

Unfortantly, while I haven't found a fix for the startup UI, in game play is bearable.

70: We'll start with some in engine optimizations

Left Click on Display

71: AvP2 will now search for display devices. Left Click on OK.

72: Sadly, while Lithtech is known for using OpenGL... AvP2 only reports a DirectX renderer.

73: Given the listed resolutions, feel free to take this up to 800 x 600 x 32

Then Left Click on OK.

You can adjust the resolution to a higher setting inside the game itself.

74: Next, Left Click on Options.

75: A near stock warning to not mess with advanced options. Left Click on OK.

76: Most of the options are to disable certain functions of the game.

77: Sadly, changing nothing in here improves the performance, so Left Click on OK.

78: At this point, the game can be entered by Left Clicking on Play.

79: Which brings up a detail settings menu.

80: Might as well go with High Detail.
