Descent 3 - Part 2
Cedega Install For : Cedega / Mepis Linux by : je.saist It has been some time since a Descent game last appeared. This guide looks at Descent 3, the final game in the series, released in 1999, and running it under Cedega on Mepis Linux. To Install and Play this game the original Install media is required
26: At this point eject Descent 3 Disc 1 and insert Descent 3 Disc 2 ![]() 27: Left Click on Mount ![]() 28: When Unmount shows again, Left Click on Descent 3 Setup in the KDE Taskbar. ![]() 29: We should now be back at the disk dialog. Left Click on OK. ![]() 30: Now we go back to the waiting. ![]() 31: Eventually the installer will ask for Disk 1 again. Mount CD's should still be in the KDE Taskbar. Left Click on Mount CD's. ![]() 32: Left Click on Unmount. The eject Descent 3 Disc 2 and insert Descent 3 Disc 1 ![]() 33: Left Click on Mount. ![]() 34: With Unmount showing again, Left Click back on Descent 3 Setup. ![]() 35: Left Click on OK. ![]() 36: Left Click on the OK to see the Planescape: Movie. ![]() 37: Don't worry, this video is corrupted on both Nvidia and ATi graphics cards. I don't think Interplay used a standard video codec here... ![]() 38: When the corrupted video completes, Left Click on Run Descent 3 Then Left Click on Finish. ![]() 39: Give the installer a moment. ![]() 40: This is where things get a little ugly. Since Interplay no longer exists, you can't complete the registration electronically. It is possible to complete the registration using print functions. For now, Left Click on Register Later. ![]() 41: Since Interplay no longer exists... what special offers? ![]() 42: So... yes. Left Click on Forfeit. ![]() 43: Left Click on OK to clear the Welcome Window. ![]() 44: Personal preference. Click whichever you want. ![]() 45: At this point we'll be walked through the Descent 3 Setup. Left Click on the Tab labled Video. ![]() 46: Descent 3 Setup will now detect available video devices. Left Click in the checkbox for OpenGL. ![]() 47: Then Left Click on Scan for the Selected Video Devices. ![]() 48: More than one device should be found. Left Click on OK. ![]() 49: No device will be selected to start with. Left Click on the drop down box ![]() 50: Here we'll find that Descent 3 Setup found the Cedega Renderer. We should also see it finding our native graphics card, in OpenGL. Select the OpenGL renderer with a Left Click. ![]() Missed part of the setup in Part 1? Finish the Installation in Part 3! |
