Descent 3 - Part 3
Cedega Install For : Cedega / Mepis Linux by : je.saist It has been some time since a Descent game last appeared. This guide looks at Descent 3, the final game in the series, released in 1999, and running it under Cedega on Mepis Linux. To Install and Play this game the original Install media is required
51: Left Click on the tab labaled audio. Typically, it will default to Default Playback Device. ![]() 52: If you want, you can specify the WINE Direct Sound though. ![]() 53: Personally, I just set it to WINE DirectSound to avoid potential conflicts. ![]() 54: Now Left Click on the tab labeled Speed. This is where we set the overal system performance. ![]() 55: Left Click on Detect System Properties. ![]() 56: A game this old didn't know what to do... so it was left on Medium. ![]() 57: A Left Click to the Drop Down box and we can change to Very High. ![]() 58: With Very High graphics, Left Click on the tab labeled Network. ![]() 59: Left Click in the dot for LAN/Direct Connection. ![]() 60: Personally though, I don't change the connection speed. You can if you want to. ![]() 61: Left Click on the tab labeled Misc. ![]() 62: Nothing to change here. Left Click on OK. ![]() 63: Left Click on OK. I'll grant this warning was accurate... in 1999. ![]() 64: There we go. In game shot. ![]() *********** Launching the Game : because the registration really can't be completed, get used to bypassing the process. I switched over to an ATi based system for this part of the Guide. 65: Here we have our Cedega Screen and our Descent 3 entry. ![]() 66: Left Click the Descent 3 icon to select, then Left Click on Play. ![]() 67: Left Click on Register Later. ![]() 68: Left Click on Forfeit. ![]() 69: And now we are into the game itself. ![]() 70: Okay, here is our Radeon x1800 being selected in OpenGL. ![]() 71: Again, Descent 3 Setup does not know what to do with the system specs. ![]() 72: So, again, Very High manually set. ![]() 73: And another in-game shot, this time on an ATi card. ![]() Go back to the Cedega start up in Part 1?
