Installing Mepis Linux 6.5
For : Mepis Linux 6.5 (redundant... I know) By : je.saist Most of the install Guides have been, well, special, so far. I've gone over topics from preparing an NTFS drive for resizing, to keeping the /home folder, to removing the .kde on an upgrade. Now, it's just back to the basics. One Hard Drive. Basic Install. 1: Starting from the LiveCD desktop. ![]() 2: Left Click on MEPIS Install ![]() 3: Welcome to the License page. Left Click in the checkbox for I agree to the Terms. ![]() 4: With terms agreed to, Left Click on Next. ![]() 5: Typical of Mepis Linux, the system defaults to a Custom Install. ![]() 6: Left Click in the dot for Auto-Install using entire disk. ![]() 7: Wave good bye to any information you had, and Left Click on Next. ![]() 8: Mepis will ask for confirmation to destroy the drive. Left Click on Yes. ![]() 9: Get comfy, this part could take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours. ![]() 10: When the system is finished installing, Mepis will ask to install Grub. ![]() 11: Left Click on Next. ![]() 12: Left Click on YES. ![]() 13: After a few moments, Mepis will inform if the installation was successful. Left Click on OK. ![]() 14: Now Mepis will ask for the default services. When ready, Left Click on Next. ![]() 15: Now Mepis will ask for the default network information. When ready, Left Click on Next ![]() 16: The next screen will allow changing location. When ready, Left Click on Next to continue. ![]() 17: Enter the desired username and passwords.
