Preparation Guides: Before a FAT32 or NTFS drive with Windows install can be resized there are numerous steps that need to be taken to prepare Microsoft Windows to be resized. This Guide presumes that the CCleaner, Check Disk, and Defragment Guides have been completed.

CCleaner  |  Check Disk  |  Defragment  |   Regseeker  |   WinASO

Resize Part 1  |  Resize Part 2  | Resize Part 3

Following this Guide WILL PUT YOUR INFORMATION AT RISK.

Not MAY, it WILL.

Over Parts 1 and 2 we configured our drive with the appropriate partition sets. Now it's time to actually put Mepis onto our hard-drive.

42: We should now be back at the Mepis Install screen.

Make sure Custom Install on existing partitions is checked.

43: Left Click on Next

44: Our /root partition has again defaulted to the NTFS partition

45: We need to change our /root partition to be sda5

46: We also need to go ahead and specify sda6 as our /swap partition.

47: Our /home partition needs to be set to sda7

48: If you want to change the filesystem at this time, you can. I am just going to leave the filesystem on ext3

49:  When ready, Left Click on Next

50: Mepis will confirm the format on sda5. Left Click on Yes

51: Left Click on Yes to confirm the formatting of sda6 for the /swap partition

52: Left Click on Yes one more time to confirm formatting sda7 for the /home partition.

53: Depending on the speed of your system, this next part could take a while.

54: Eventually Mepis will ask about the Grub install method.

You should not need to change anything in this box. Left Click on Next

55: Mepis will ask for confirmation. Left Click on Yes.

56: Wait for Mepis to confirm the install of GRUB. Left Click on OK to continue.

57: You can now choose some of the services to run with Mepis.

58: When ready Left Click on Next

59: Mepis will now ask for the Network Information.

When Ready, Left Click on Next to continue.

60: Mepis will now ask about the Keyboard and locale information.

When Ready, Left Click on Next

61: Mepis will then ask for the Default Username and passwords.

When ready, Left Click on Next to continue.

62: Alright, our install is finished.

63:  Left Click on Finish then Reboot

64: We've dropped back to windows to show the Computer Management screen again. The full size of the drive is now seen and Windows can detect there are partitions there.

I need to see the Logical Partition again, that was Part 1?

I missed something in creating the install partitions, they were Part 2?

Take me back to the Guides.
