For : OpenOffice

Part 1 showed the normal method for saving a file in a specific type under OpenOffice. With Part 2 we'll look into changing the default file type to save in. Over Part we'll look at the default font options.

Part 1  |  Part 2  |  Part 3

14: To change the default file type, we'll need to Left Click on Tools at the top of OpenOffice.

15: Under Tools, Left Click on Options

16: If this is the first time you've entered OpenOffice, you'll see the User Data screen.

17: We'll be heading for Load/Save in the Left Hand Column

18: Left Clicking the Plus Sign (+) next to Load/Save will show the 4 selections underneath.

19: Left Click on General

20: Under General we can see that our Always Save As is set to OpenDocument Text

21: Left Clicking on OpenDocument Text reveals the drop down Menu selections.

22: Here I am going to select Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP with a Left Click

23: Now, Always save as shows the format Microsoft Word 97/2000/Xp

24: Another option in here of interest is this one:

Warn when not saving in OpenDocument or Default Format

25: Checking off the Warn option will prevent OpenOffice from complaining when choosing another format to save a file in.

I prefer selecting my file types, can I see Part 1 again?

I want to continue on and change my default Font in Part 3.
