In Part 1 we covered the typical file selection process used when selecting a different file format than OpenDocument. In Part 2 we looked at changing the default file type. Over Part 3 we will look at changing the default Font for OpenOffice, and seeing the changes in effect.

Part 1  |  Part 2  |  Part 3

26: Changing the default font will require going to OpenOffice.org Writer.

We can find Open Office.org Writer in the Left Hand menu.

27: Left Clicking the Plus Sign (+) next to Writer will show the 11 selections underneath.

28: We need to Left Click on Basic Fonts (Western)

Here we can see that our default font is Nimbus Roman No9 L

29: Left Clicking the Down Arrow at the end of the font list will show a drop down menu

30: Here we can select our fonts. For me, I'm selecting Courier 10 Pitch.

31: Changing the Default font changins the List, caption, and index fonts.

32: Left Click on OK to Close the Options box.

33: I am going to go ahead and left click on the New icon in the upper left corner.

34: In our New page we can see that our default font is now set to Courier 10 Pitch.

35: Once again and I going to enter some text.

37: Left Clicking on Save again.

38: Again, OpenOffice has gone to the Home Folder, so I'm going back to Documents

We can also see here that our Filter is set to Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP

39: Under documents we can see our previous file. Anyways, I am going to save the new one.

40: And there we go.  Alright, you can close OpenOffice if you want.

I missed the usual selection method, that's in Part 1 right?

I can change the default file type in Part 2 right?

Take me back to the Guides.
