Amarok Support: First Run

For: Mepis Linux

by: je.saist

This guide was in competition with the Generic Media Player guide to be the shortest one ever written. Like the Generic Media Player Guide, it was spawned from the Amarok Usage Guide. While the current version of Mepis Linux defaults with Amarok Installed, what would users see if Amarok did have to be installed through Synaptic?

I forced this guide into Mepis 6 by using Synaptic to completely remove the Amarok installation, clearing the packages, and the using Synaptic to re-install Amarok.

1: The first 3 steps are the same as the Amarok-Usage Guide. Open the K-menu.

2: Go to Multimedia

3: Click on Audio Player (Amarok)

4: This is where we have the depature. Amarok gives us a short greeting screen, allowing you to do some initial configuration, or just skip to using the player.

5: I'm going to Left Click on Next

6: The first configuration step is which folders you want Amarok to watch for Music in.

Once you've selected the folders, if any, you want Amarok to watch, Left Click Next.

7: The next step allows you to select your database. Since I'm not really into actually setting up a database right, I'm going to leave it at SQLite.

8: Left Click on Next when you have made your database choice.

9: The final screen gives some more information about the Amarok Player.

10: Left Click on Finish

11: Now, when I did this, Amarok defaulted to the Context View and some albums already identified from when I ran Amarok before hand.

Theoretically, Amarok should give you something like this screen, which is Step #4 on the Amarok Usage Guide

Take me to the Amarok Usage Guide.
