Generic Media Player For: Mepis Linux by: Je.saist I think this is going to be one of the shortest guides I've ever done. While writing the Amarok Usage guide it occurred to me that plugging in a USB Media Player would appear differently to the user. So, how differently? Well, this is using my Iriver H320 and showing what happens when I just plug it in using the DATA connection. (wonder if Apple would ship me an Ipod to write guides for... Although I would attempt to write Guides for Zune to) 1: Not so stock Mepis Desktop. Yeah, I need better icons for Kompozer and Quanta. I'm just going to go ahead and plug my Iriver into the USB port. ![]() 2: The KDE Daemons are pretty good about picking up on a new device. ![]() 3: Now, do keep in mind that you can disable this screen. There is an option to Always do this for this type of media. If you want Mepis to take a specific action every time you plug your player up, check that box. ![]() 4: For me though, I'm going to leave the box unchecked, Open in a New Window selected. Then I'm going to Left Click on Ok. ![]() 5: There are the contents of my player. ![]() 6: Alright, enough of that. I'm closing Konqueror ![]() 7: Your media player should also have an Ipod Like Icon on the desktop. Mousing over the icon should give you drive information. ![]() (Just for reference, you can thank Ryan for maxing the contents of the drive. I think he put all of OC Remix on here. Although, that really isn't a bad thing) I want to see the Amarok Usage Guide. Take me back to the Guides. |
