Kaffeine Install

For: Mepis Linux

by: je.saist

We just completed installing Kaffeine through Synaptic. Now to actually use Kaffeine. However, there is a slight problem with K-menu's updating feature. No matter what system I tried it on the Kaffeine entry would not be placed into the K-Menu listing. Because of that I kept needing to do a Windows Style Reboot.

24: So lets start our reboot process.

25: Click on the K-menu

26: Select Log-Out

27: And restart the computer

28: When Mepis pops back up, open the K-menu again.

29: Left Click on Multimedia

30: Kaffeine should now be visible in the Multimedia menu. Left Click on Kaffeine.

31: The first thing Kaffeine will do is run a system check. No, I don't have any DVB-devices.

(wouldn't mind testing one though)

32: Since the DVB-Device is not an issue, Left Click on Next

33: Kaffeine gives us three options here. I'm not sure these actually do anything as well see in a minute.

34: Selected all 3.

35: Left Click on Finish

36: While Kaffeine opens, I don't see a Kaffeine icon on my desktop...

(I know, not really an issue)

Anyways, lets go ahead and Maximise the Kaffeine window.

37: Alright, now we can see all of Kaffeine's options.

38: Lets start some music playing. I'm going to Left Click on Open Directory

39: Kaffeine now presents a fairly typical folder view.

40: Left Clicking on Music to show the 3 folders I have there.

41: Left Click on Concert

42: Left Click on OK

43: There we go, a folder of .mp3's up and playing inside of Kaffeine.

I need to check the install again. Can I go back to Part 1?

Take me back to the Guides.
