Changing User Password
For: Mepis 6.5 - Mepis 6.04 betas by: je.saist Adding New User | Deleting an Old User | Changing Password | Removing Password | Setting Auto-Login This Guide walks through changing the password for a user account. 1: Starting at System. Left Click on System ![]() 2: Left Click on System configuration (settings) ![]() 3: I've gone ahead and maximized the settings:/ page. ![]() 4: Left Click on Security & Privacy ![]() 5: We should now be at settings:/Security/ ![]() 6: Left Click on Password & User Account ![]() 7: This is the general user screen for the logged in account. ![]() 8: Left Click on Change Password... ![]() 9: Enter your CURRENT password, then Left Click on OK ![]() 10: We should now have the Change Password box up. ![]() 11: As you type in your newly desired password, the Password strength meter will give an idea of how strong the password is. This is not absolute rating though. ![]() 12: Once the new password is typed in, type it in again under Verify. The Change Password box also indicates typing the new password and it's verification. ![]() 13: Left Click on OK ![]() 14: There should be a notification that the password changed. Left Click on OK ![]() 15: From this point, Left Click on OK to close out. ![]() Take me back to the Guides. |
