Deleting an Old User
For: Mepis 6.5 - Mepis 6.04 betas by: je.saist Adding New User | Deleting an Old User | Changing Password | Removing Password | Setting Auto-Login The Mepis User Assistant allows users to repair file permissions, add new users, delete users, as well as synch the On-The-Go accounts. This guide covers deleting an established user account. 1: Starting at System with a Left Click ![]() 2: Move the mouse up to MEPIS ![]() 3: Then Left Click on MEPIS User Assistant ![]() 4: Enter the /root password and then Left Click on OK ![]() 5: The default MEPIS User Assistant page. ![]() 6: I've broken cadence here to bring up Konqueror set to the /home partition. Here we can see our 3 current accounts. newuser | onthego | (username) ![]() 7: Returning to the Mepis User Assistant, I've left Konqueror up in the background. ![]() 8: Left Click on the tab labeled Delete. Left Click on none to activate the drop down menu. ![]() 9: In the Drop Down Menu, Left Click on the User Account you wish to Remove. ![]() 10: Here I have newuser selected. ![]() 11: Left Click on Apply. ![]() 12: Mepis will warn that the action is irreversible. Left Click on Yes. ![]() 13: It may take a few minutes, but eventually the User Assistant will return to the none setting. We can see in the background that the newuser folder has dissapeared. ![]() 14: Focusing in on Konqueror shows newuser is gone. ![]() Take me back to the Guides. |
