The System assistant works through many of the basic system settings, such as the computer name and network domain. The System Assistant also contains the Grub Re-loader. 1: Starting at the default desktop ![]() 2: Mouse over System ![]() 3: Left Click on System to bring up the Context Menu. ![]() 4: Mouse up to Mepis ![]() 5: Left Click on MEPIS System Assistant ![]() 6: Enter the /root password and Left Click on OK ![]() 7: Here is our Options page. On this page we can change things like the Computers name, the samba workgroup, the domain the computer is on, as well as our keyboard layout and language locations. Also of interest is the settings for laptop users. ![]() 8: Left Click on MEPIS USB Key I've never used this, but this is where you can create a version of Mepis to be bootable from a USB Drive. This is also the location to create an OnTheGo account. ![]() 8: A Left Click on Repair System Boot brings us to the screen where Grub can be repaird. A small note, this screen is broken in the original 6.5 32bit edition. Bug Report | Temporary Fix ![]() 9: One more Left Click brings us to Repair Partition. The below screen shows the options on an active NTFS drive, which can be repaired. ![]() 10: Switching to the active install drive, which for me is sda ![]() 11: And all the Repair system will do is test the drive. ![]() Take me back to the Guides. |
