to the Mepis Assistant Series of Guides. These 4 Guides go through the
Tools Unique to Mepis Linux, which offer simplified steps to completing
certain tasks in a Linux Enviroment.
The Mepis User tools simplify the normally arduous process of adding accounts, deleting accounts, and managing permissions and default configuration files. The User-Tools also cover the Synchronizing panel for OnTheGo users. 1: Starting at the default desktop ![]() 2: Mouse over System ![]() 3: Left Click on System to bring up the Context Menu. ![]() 4: Mouse up to Mepis ![]() 5: Left Click on MEPIS User Assistant ![]() 6: Enter the /root password and Left Click on OK ![]() 7: This is the Primary User Assistant Page. This page should allow you to reset file permissions, KDE Apps, and FireFox's configuration files. ![]() 8: Left Click on the down arrow next to User in order to select the desired username. This appears to be based off of entries in the /home folder, Zeria is not an active user for me. ![]() 9: A Left Click to the tab of Copy/Sync finds us in another OnTheGo management page. This page allows keeping OnTheGo synched with the home account, but not keeping user accounts synched. This also appears to be only a one way copy. Perhaps User account synching will occur in a later version. ![]() 10: To Select the original user, Left Click the down arrow next to Copy from. ![]() 11: And onthego will appear in Copy to: ![]() 12: To get to the add tab, just give it a Left Click. Adding new users is covered in an existing guide. The bug listed there has been fixed. ![]() 13: A Left Click to the tab of Delete and we can remove older usernames on the system. ![]() 14: To select an account to delete, simply left click on the down arrow.
