to the Mepis Assistant Series of Guides. These 4 Guides go through the
Tools Unique to Mepis Linux, which offer simplified steps to completing
certain tasks in a Linux Enviroment.
The X-Windows Assistant simplifies the task of installing accelerated drivers for OpenGL 3D, and for those wanting to try Beryl. The Mepis Assistant also allows copying a working X.org config from the CD to the installed version of Mepis... without having to reinstall the entire operating system. Other functions of the system are also covered, such as default system font size, and the types of mice that are supported "out of the CD." 1: Starting at the default desktop ![]() 2: Mouse over System ![]() 3: Left Click on System to bring up the Context Menu. ![]() 4: Mouse up to Mepis ![]() 5: Left Click on MEPIS X-Windows Assistant ![]() 6: Enter the /root password and Left Click on OK ![]() 7: The primary screen is for the X-Server repair function. This is covered in full in an existing guide. ![]() 8: Short version is you can select your drive with the installed Mepis... ![]() 9: and the /root partition will get filled in automatically. A Left Click to Okay and X-server is reset. (Don't... left click here... please). ![]() 10: The next tab, General, allows changing the default system font size. Simply Left Click in the appropriate dot, left click OK, and reboot to change the system font. ![]() 11: The Current 6.5 version of Mepis defaults with all the mouse types enabled.
